Furnished Left Room - Ottawa Civic Hospital

We look forward to hosting you in our home where you will have your own room with a queen sized bed, dresser, desk with light, closet, room darkening curtains and a window air conditioner if you find central air not cool enough and a small heater in case you find our winter overnight temperatures not warm enough :-)

There is a mini fridge with freezer in your room - the kitchen fridge is the only appliance that is not shared space. You'll still have access to microwave, stove, oven, etc. We'd love to help you save money on eating out and yet understand you are short on time! We have an air fryer, InstantPot, Slow Cooker - pretty much anything you need to be able to prepare your food at home :-)

Your room is on the upper level of the house along with one other room that we also rent to medical students. The two rooms share one bathroom on the main floor.

Laundry is in the basement and available at agreed upon times (usually weekends).

Outdoor oasis. In the summer months, we have a beautiful backyard where you can sit outside to eat, use the BBQ, rest in a hammock, etc. And yes the wifi works out back :-)

Note that we do not have weekday parking but you can pay for parking at the hospital. Currently posted rates are $50/week. You would be able to park on the street overnight (so drive to and from the hospital each day).

Q. Who else is in the house?
A. Terry and I live here and we have two rooms that we rent to medical personnel. Those rooms are on the upper level and our bedroom is in the basement. Kitchen and bathroom are on the main floor.

Q. Is there a private bathroom?
The bathroom on the main floor is primarily shared with the other bedroom which usually has one person but on occasion will have two people. Darlene works from home and may use the main floor washroom quickly during the day but when guests are home, we use our full bathroom in the basement.

Q. What gender is the person in the other room?
We typically do not ask people what their gender is. Terry and Darlene are male and female so there will always be multiple genders in the home.

Q. Is there parking?
There is only street parking and it is restricted to 3 hours between Monday to Friday 9-5. This means you would need to take your car to work. The Ottawa Hospital website outlines parking costs - currently they are $50/week.

Q. Does the bedroom door lock?
Unfortunately not. The doors are very old and modern interior door knobs that lock do not fit.

Q. Are there any animals in the house?
We do not have any pets but have a dog that visits on occasion. We would always check in with both guests for comfort/allergies before we had a dog visit. Many guests are begging to have a dog around - if that's the case, we will try to oblige :-)
