Furnished Right Room - Civic Hospital

Welcome to our cozy abode! We have crafted a space with medical students and professionals in mind. Here's what awaits you:

A private sanctuary: Your room is furnished with a comfortable queen-sized bed, a spacious dresser, a desk equipped with a light for those late-night studies, and a roomy closet. We've also installed room-darkening curtains to ensure you get restorative sleep.

❄️ For your comfort: While our home boasts central air, we understand that personal comfort varies. That's why we've added a window air conditioner and a compact heater to your room - ensuring you're at ease no matter the season.

Kitchen Privileges: A mini-fridge with freezer is at your disposal within your room. And while our main fridge remains private, rest assured that essential kitchen appliances like the microwave, stove, and oven are available for your use. We'd love to help you save money on eating out and yet understand you are short on time! We have an air fryer, InstantPot, Slow Cooker - pretty much anything you need to be able to prepare your food at home :-)

Convenient Facilities: Your room resides on the upper level of our home, right next to another room that hosts fellow medical students. The guest bathroom is situated on the main floor.

Laundry: A laundry facility is located in the basement and is available for use at mutually convenient times.

Outdoor oasis. In the summer months, we have a beautiful backyard where you can sit outside to eat, use the BBQ, rest in a hammock, etc. And yes the wifi works out back :-)

Parking: Note that we do not have weekday parking but you can pay for parking at the hospital. Currently posted rates are $50/week. You would be able to park on the street overnight (to drive to and from the hospital each day).

Q. Who else is in the house?
Terry and I live here and we have two rooms that we rent to medical personnel. Those rooms are on the upper level and our bedroom is in the basement. Kitchen and bathroom are on the main floor.

Q. Is there a private bathroom?
The bathroom on the main floor is primarily shared with the other bedroom which usually has one person but on occasion will have two people. Darlene works from home and may use the main floor washroom quickly during the day but when guests are home, we use our full bathroom in the basement.

Q. What gender is the person in the other room?
We typically do not ask people what their gender is. Terry and Darlene are male and female so there will always be multiple genders in the home.

Q. Is there parking?
There is only street parking and it is restricted to 3 hours between Monday to Friday 9-5. This means you would need to take your car to work. The Ottawa Hospital website outlines parking costs - currently they are $50/week.

Q. Does the bedroom door lock?
Unfortunately not. The doors are very old and modern interior door knobs that lock do not fit.

Q. Are there any animals in the house?
We do not have any pets but have a dog that visits on occasion. We would always check in with both guests for comfort/allergies before we had a dog visit. Many guests are begging to have a dog around - if that's the case, we will try to oblige :-)
